This policy explains what personal data Wakeahead processes, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR. The data controller is AB MEKO Invest (org.nr 556245-3760), Älgvägen 3, 191 43 Sollentuna, Sweden.
The short version
Wakeahead has no user accounts. You do not give us your name, email, or password. We process the minimum data needed to wake you on time and to run a paid subscription. We do not sell your data and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking.
Data we process
Anonymous device identifier
When you first open the app it generates a random identifier (a UUID) stored on your device. It is not linked to your identity and is used only to associate your commute settings with your installation.
Commute settings
To deliver disruption-aware alarms we store the transit lines you select, your target arrival time, the weekdays you commute, and your time zone.
Search queries
When you search for a stop or line, the query is sent to our transit data provider to return results. We do not build a profile from your searches.
Subscription status
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We receive your subscription status (active or not) so the app can unlock features. We never receive your card number or full payment details.
Technical data
Our hosting provider temporarily processes connection data such as your IP address to deliver responses and protect the service from abuse.
Data we do NOT collect
- No name, email address, phone number, or password.
- No precise GPS location.
- No contacts, photos, or device file access.
- No advertising identifiers and no third-party ad or analytics trackers.
Why we are allowed to process this data (legal basis)
- Performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide the alarm service and your subscription.
- Legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep the service secure and working.
Who we share data with (processors)
We use a small number of trusted providers that process data on our behalf under data processing agreements:
- Apple Inc. (App Store, payments & subscriptions)
- Cloudflare, Inc. (backend hosting & storage)
- Trafiklab / Samtrafiken i Sverige AB (transit timetable data)
International transfers
We aim to process data within the EU/EEA. Where a provider (such as Apple or Cloudflare) processes data outside the EEA, that transfer is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
How long we keep data
We keep your commute settings for as long as your installation is active. If you delete the app or ask us to, the associated device record is deleted. Connection logs are kept only for a short period for security purposes.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to the processing of your personal data. Because we hold no contact details, please reach us using your device identifier if you want us to act on a specific record.
To exercise any right, email support@wakeahead.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Sweden the Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), and in the UK the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Children
Wakeahead is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
